We are pleased to accommodate group tours with several tours available tailored to your interests and time. Tour the museum with a guide or take advantage of our self-guided audio handset tour. Both tours offer an in-depth immersion into the entire auto museum’s collection.

School classes and other youth groups are welcome to visit us at the Fountainhead Antique Auto Museum. Docent-led tours may be scheduled on Thursdays between 8:30 a.m. and 2:00 p.m. Tours must be reserved at least two weeks in advance. Other dates and times may be available by special arrangement.
 
This tour will introduce students to the history of the automobile in America with an emphasis on Alaska’s automotive history and the difficulties faced by our pioneering motorists.
 
Students will see examples of American cars built between 1898 and 1936, and hear real life stories of how automotive technology and design changed over time.
 
The guided tour lasts up to 45 minutes. An additional 45 minutes is provided for an organized activity. Teachers may use our scavenger hunt or design their own activity for their students to enjoy. Teachers can also allow students to be photographed at the Sourdough Roadhouse exhibit.

Antique Auto Museum Tour – Two-Hour Docent Guided Tour 

Let one of our enthusiastic guides take you on a personalized tour of the Fountainhead Antique Auto Museum! See a remarkable collection of rare vehicles, including oddities like a 100-year-old hybrid gas/electric car, a curious “snow flyer” and early cyclecars. You’ll also learn about the rich and entertaining history of the automobile in Alaska and the unusual challenges faced by our pioneering motorists. Other interesting artifacts, including historic photographs and vintage clothing exhibits, will complement your tour.

Educational Learning Auto Museum Tour – One-Hour Docent Guided and One Hour Self-Guided Tours

This docent-led tour focuses on the history of the first automobiles in America. Students will explore the challenges faced by early car developers and drivers, including Alaska’s pioneering motorists. The tour allows time for self-exploration and activities such as a scavenger hunt. Educational tours occur during non-regular museum hours with a minimum of ten guests. Chaperones must accompany school groups.
