We are pleased to accommodate group tours. There are several tours available according to your interest and time.
Tour the museum with a guide or take advantage of our self-guided audio handset tour. Both tours offer an in-depth experience of the entire auto museum collection.
If you’re here for a half day or more you will also enjoy the Boreal Forest Tour. The nature tour experience is a wonderful discovery of all that is present in a Boreal forest and the enjoyment of photographing the waterfowl nesting on Wander Lake.
School classes and other youth groups are welcome to visit us at the Fountainhead Antique Auto Museum. Docent-led tours may be scheduled on Thursdays between 8:30 a.m. and 2:00 p.m. Tours must be reserved at least two weeks in advance. Reservation form.
This tour will introduce students to the history of the automobile in America with emphasis on Alaska’s automotive history and the difficulties faced by our pioneering motorists.
Students will see examples of American cars built between 1898 and 1936 and listen to the real life stories about how automotive technology and design changed over time.
The guided tour last up to 45 minutes. An additional 45 minutes is provided for an organized activity. Teachers may use our scavenger hunt or design their own activity. Teachers may choose to allow students to be photographed at the Sourdough Roadhouse exhibit.
"So impressed with the displays, the photographs and the history information
that we learned. This is definitely a place to bring our visitors to. To see
this car collection in our town is really quite an achievement."
